I started attending classes at Yoga Haven in 2003 when I was not handling the stress of a corporate job very well. Restorative Yoga turned out to be the perfect place for me to begin. After class I could relax and sleep, so that practice became my weekly treat. Those classes were where I first learned that asana was only one of the eight limbs of yoga–each week Lori talked briefly about one of the other limbs and shared examples from her own life. In all the years of taking classes with Lori I don’t think I’ve ever done exactly the same class twice–even in classes that follow the same  sort of sequence every time, like Sivananda. Lori’s style is leela (playful) and literary. She often shares what she’s reading, or studying, and that’s wonderful. I know that Shiva Rea and Gabrielle Roth are just two of the important teachers that have influenced Lori’s life and I always enjoy hearing about what she’s learned from them. Lori does a fantastic job of sensitively adapting classes to all levels of students and of creating a community. I’ve made many friends there. Yoga Haven really is–a haven, that is. I whole-heartedly recommend that you join us on the mat. Namaste.

Yoga Haven is a great place to try yoga. Real instructors that enable the students to discover new abilities and leave behind old expectations.    – Curtis Bundus

Lori Lee is a very insightful yoga teacher who’s ability to empower and motivate her students makes her one of this city’s finest yoga teachers. She is living her purpose.  -Karry Sali

I have been a student at Yoga Haven for 9 years. The instructors are always very knowledgeable and friendly to students. They offer variations for yoga poses that might be better when a student is not able to do a more difficult option. Classes move at an appropriate pace. I like the flexibility to drop in for a class when it fits my schedule. Most importantly, the knowledge i now have after going to classes for almost 10 years makes it easy for me to do yoga at home. I love the classes and when I leave a class I can often feel younger, more energized and happier than when class started. Yoga has that effect and Yoga Haven is a great place to learn.   -Charlen Werry

I am proud to say that i am a Yoga Haven regular, have been for a few years now and i feel so fortunate to call Yoga Haven, my yoga “home”. Lori introduced me to yoga, and at first the appeal was the physical stuff. Yoga was a way to keep in shape, build strength and increase flexibility. With the little tibits of information, yoga and general well being philosophy often introduced in class, yoga has grown into something more for me – a way of thinking, being and feeling – a way of seeing things a little differently – a way of life. Lori and all her teachers are truly awesome. They are extremely knowledgeable, experienced, kind, friendly and very approachable. It is obvious that they are real professionals who are always improving themselves and truly practicing what they preach, embodying/modeling the yoga way of being. While their classes are always challenging, they continually stress the non-competetitive nature of yoga and every pose, and the importance of honoring your body. I have changed alot since Lori and her crew entered my life. Physically i am taller, no more back pain and i am way more resistant to injuries. Emotionally, I don’t know where I would be without yoga. It provides a vacation for my mind, a much needed sense of inner calm and the emotional support to help me deal with the craziness of everyday life.   – Marlene Tuck
